Biographical Notes

Claire Robitaille is originally from Québec City (Québec, Canada) where she earned a baccalaureate in arts with a major in sculpture from the School on Fine Arts of Québec in 1968. She settled in Alabama in 1978 after devoting time to study, experimentation and travel.

Her travels took her to Mexico and Guatemala and fostered a fascination with fibers, which were to become her favorite material for more than two decades. Over the years she has added various other materials, including plexiglas, glass beads, and metal. Today plexiglas is her primary material.

Robitaille has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions in the United States and abroad. Her last solo exhibition Réflection was at the Eastern Shore Art Center, Fairhope, Alabama, United States, from April 1 to May 30, 2016.
